Mori slid another silver coin across the table. The patron grabbed it with two long, cracked nails and made off. Kota and Ano sat beside him curled up against the wall, sleeping. How many more before I find out something useful, he thought. Sipping his tea he scoured the teahouse for a face he had yet to question. He could have asked everyone man in the building and been no better off. In fact he’d be worse. He fingered the coins on his belt and decided against paying for more information. Most knew little beyond Osaka’s walls and those that did only spoke of the oni menace plaguing the countryside. If Mori was to find a place to rest and fight the monsters out of Lord Miyoshi’s reach he’d have to find it himself.
