Lord Miyoshi yanked the medallion from his neck and ran his thumb over the four mythical creatures upon its surface. The copper coloured key shimmered in the candle light within the main shrine of Sumiyoshi-taisha. His iron plated armour creaked. He turned the medallion over in his gauntleted hand and paused.

Mori felt his arm pulsate and looked around him. Hidetaka’s ronin gathered near while a hundred of Miyoshi’s soldiers waited outside, armed and armoured in perfect formation, their yari spears like torches catching the low light of evening. It’s not enough, Mori thought. The gloom deepened as Miyoshi set the medallion in the shrine. The creatures slid into place with a muffled click and a ferocious gust of wind erupted from the centre of the room. Darkness descended as the candles fluttered, fought, and finally guttered out.
