Nicely done. This is the kind of story we could have had in Star Trek if the writers are brave enough to tackle the implications of transporter technology.
I think it was a TNG episode where Scott got stuck in the transporter for decades until Picard and co. rescued him, at least that's how I remember it (as an aside, I feel sorry for the TOS crew, they can't seem to catch a break).
Also, the episode where Kirk split into two (the "I'M CAPTAIN KIRK!" episode) was a result of a transporter mishap.
It's been a long time since I watched Star Trek at all but reading the synopses of those episodes it's a shame that is all they did with transporters that was out of the ordinary. I'm sure there was more but never delving into the fact that they digitise physical matter so it can be moved. That implies everything is reducible to numbers in the Star Trek universe and that someone like Data probably shouldn't be as unique as he is given you could copy a persons transporter data, in theory.
Excellent.
Thanks!
This story is a trip. I think the perspective you used for this also really added to the experience!
Thank you! Good to hear the perspective worked, wasn’t sure at first but I was having fun writing it.

Yes! I vaguely remember an episode where someone gets “stuck” in the transporter but not sure how it went or if I’m imagining it.
You're welcome.
