It seems that humanity cannot move past their natures. There is a lot of truth here that applies in the here and now.

Humanity and its nature are inseparable but that does mean it cannot be overcome. This story will likely be expanded as it is clear to me from comments that too much remains unanswered.

I was sort of hoping that the colonists could somehow integrate into the society already there.

It's not as if the colonists are criminals and supposedly the best of the best.

The story could continue in one of two ways. The colonists could live and grow where they are, or the Atlantians could destroy them.

Thanks for commenting. I initially thought the colonists would integrate but as I wrote it became evident that 2000 years of history and religious difference, not to mention everything else, it wouldn't be possible. Yet, I think I will be continuing this story in the near future and you're right about the avenues it could go down.

I love the story and its themes, but everyone is completely stupid here. They didn't even try, they just gave up.

Thank you. It is evident to me that the story needs continuing, stay tuned.

I really enjoyed the language plot point, and the setting on Proxima b.

Shame about human nature though!

Thanks!

Indeed, nature and history can be impossible to overcome in a short time. I am planning on continuing this short story into something more, keep an eye out 🙂
