I've always wanted to write exactly this type of story: one that perfectly captures the feeling of dungeon diving in games like Dark Souls, Dragon Age, or D&D. Bravo, well done.

Thank you! The image kindled memories of Sen's Fortress from Dark Souls and I tried to capture the feeling of it. I had a friend who didn't play Dark Souls until a couple years ago and hearing her experience of Sen's Fun House stuck with me. The horror of this unknown decrepit castle wanting to kill you.

Ha, I immediately thought of Sen's Fortress as soon as the characters started across the bridge with the axes. That place was the absolute bane of my existence during my time with Dark Souls. Everyone complains about Blighttown, but I thought Sen's was MUCH worse. And, unless I miss my guess, Ricard with his rapier is an explicit Dark Souls reference.

Blighttown remains my bane unless I take the Master Key and go in the back way through New Londo. Though saying that last time I played (without the Master Key) I managed to run to the first bonfire without issue and from there it's fine.

I quite enjoy Sen's now I know what I'm doing, though the odd axe or lizardman still catches me off guard.

Yes, Ricard is an explicit reference.

Good stuff. Felt like a D&D adventure.

Great story. It's cool to see a similar style to the stories I write. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Awesome story, I too have always wanted to tell such a tale, and it honestly came out better via your pen Oscar. I've never really thought about writing a Mimic into a story but this now kind of makes me want to, if in a different way (rather than a treasure chest), and I really must admit to liking Rein as a character, any chance we might get a follow-up to this tale? This was awesome.
