Randy awoke in his bed with a clean white bandage wrapped around his leg and a tingling sensation spreading from his thigh. Pain burrowed around the wound as he tried to move his leg. He sat on the edge of the bed, injured leg out straight, and stood up using his rifle as a cane. The suns sat high in the sky and the banging of a hammer throbbed through the glade. Randy stepped outside. The effort of a few steps taking minutes. He leant against the door frame and leaned out to find Cass and Phoebe to his left building a shack out of tree trunks and the last of the escape pods hull. ‘Going well?’ He said.
Cass paused to wipe her brow. ‘Be better if you were doing it.’
Randy laughed. ‘Glad I’m not,’ he scanned the camp. A man sat against the shell of the pod. Hands tied behind his back and a dirty bandage wrapped around his arm. ‘Who the fuck is that?’ He squinted.
