Randy glanced across the small pile of items he and Cass had traded for. He nodded contentedly at the bullet reloader and canister of gunpowder that had cost him all the cash he had “found” in the pod supplies, as well as two cushions. Cass had protested but Randy had been faster.. Cass had spent her own money on seeds, food, and a second rifle with a box of rounds. As a gift for the meal of weird deer Robert had added a hodgepodge of building materials.
Robert and Cook tightened the saddlebags to their massive saggy furred beasts whistling a ditty in unison.
‘Are you leaving now?’ Phoebe asked.
‘Gods no,’ Robert laughed. He fastened the buckle and returned to his tree stump. ‘Travelling at a night is a death sentence. Hell being so open like this sends a shiver down my spine.’
‘You can join us inside the ruins,’ Cass offered.
Randy thought to object but stopped short of a few grumbling sounds.
